Auction Rules

How Crive auctions work, including bidding, reserves, anti-sniping and winner obligations.

Last updated 12 July 2026 · Maintained by the Crive team.

This page is provided as general information about how Crive operates and is not a substitute for legal advice. If you have specific legal questions, please consult a qualified professional.

1. Auction format

Auctions run for a scheduled time window shown on each listing. The highest valid bid at auction end wins, provided the reserve price is met.

2. Bidding

  • You must be signed in and 18+ to place bids.
  • Each bid must meet the minimum increment shown on the listing.
  • All bids are binding commitments to purchase at that price.
  • Retracting a bid is only permitted in exceptional circumstances at Crive's discretion.

3. Reserve prices

Sellers may set a hidden reserve. If bidding does not meet the reserve the seller is not obliged to sell, but may accept the highest bid post-auction.

4. Anti-sniping

If a valid bid is placed in the final 60 seconds, the auction end time is automatically extended by 60 seconds to give other bidders a fair chance to respond.

5. Buy Now

Where a Buy Now price is offered, any bidder may end the auction immediately by committing to purchase at that price. Buy Now is disabled once bidding exceeds the reserve.

6. Winning and payment

  • The winner is notified immediately by email and push notification.
  • Payment must be initiated within 48 hours of auction end.
  • Failure to pay may result in the deposit being retained, account suspension and the vehicle being offered to the next bidder.

7. Prohibited behaviour

  • Shill bidding by the seller, staff, family or associates.
  • Coordinated bidding rings or bid suppression.
  • Use of multiple accounts to manipulate an auction.

8. Cancellation

Crive reserves the right to cancel any auction found to breach these rules, to refund any deposits and to take action against the offending accounts.
